About me

I am fascinated how the Earth-Systems are dependent and inter-connected to each other, and therefore decided to study Environmental Sciences at the University Duisburg-Essen, from which I graduated in 2005 (Dipl. Umweltw.).

During my PhD (2005–2009 at ETH Zurich) and Postdoc studies (2010-2012 at Oregon State University), I gained further insights in various processes involved driving forest ecosystem C cycles, and the necessity to better understand the coupling of these processes and their drivers to predict ecosystem responses to increasing temperatures and water limitation.

Currently, I am working as a Scientist at the IMK-IFU in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. My research focuses on the link of forest carbon and water cycling under extreme heat and drought conditions. For more details please visit my Projects.
